“Bring your own video to a private VR theatre and watch it on a large screen with theatre modes.”

Reel Room is a private cinema you open in a VR headset. You take a seat, choose a theatre mode and play a video you bring yourself on a large screen that faces the seats.

It is coming soon on aeternusvita.io. Visit Reel Room to get notified when it is ready. This guide explains what it is, how it works and who it suits, using only the official brief and store copy.

What Reel Room is

Reel Room is a private cinema you open in a VR headset. The Play listing states the pitch in one line: "Play a video you bring on a big theatre screen, in a VR headset." The subtitle is "Your video, theatre-sized".

The long description sets the room: a theatre shell with seats, dressed in fabric and wood, with a large screen facing the seats. You bring your own video and play it on that screen. It adds: "Theatre modes change how the room is set around the screen. Pick a mode and the theatre shifts, while your video keeps its place. The seats stay with you for the picture. A small set of interface sounds covers the controls." And: "You watch in the headset. The picture is the one you brought. The screen stays large for the length of that video, and the room stays the theatre you picked." Reel Room is made by aeternusvita.io.

The features as listed in the brief and in all twelve Play locales are:

  • A theatre shell with seats and a large screen
  • Theatre modes that change the room
  • Play a video you bring yourself
  • Fabric and wood dressing the theatre
  • Interface sounds on the player controls
  • A private viewing room in a VR headset

That is the full scope on file.

How it works: bring your own video

Reel Room does not include a catalogue. You bring the video and the room provides the screen.

The Play copy keeps it plain: "You bring your own video and play it on that screen." and "The picture is the one you brought." You watch in the headset, the screen stays large for the length of that video, and the room stays the theatre you picked until it ends. The steps as described are: take a seat, choose a theatre mode and start your video.

The brief does not name streaming services or library features, so this guide does not add them.

The theatre shell and what theatre modes do

The theatre is a shell with seats and a large screen, dressed in fabric and wood. Theatre modes change how the room is set around the screen. The long description says: "Theatre modes change how the room is set around the screen. Pick a mode and the theatre shifts, while your video keeps its place. The seats stay with you for the picture." You pick a mode, the theatre shifts, and the video keeps its place while the seats stay with you.

The screen, the seats and the controls

The screen faces the seats. The listing says: "A large screen faces the seats." The seats are part of the shell and stay with you for the picture when you change theatre modes. Fabric and wood dress the theatre, and a small set of interface sounds covers the controls.

In the Chrome Web Store edition the controls are described as drag to look, click or press Space to act. That edition runs offline in its own Chrome tab, with the brief noting "Privacy: no accounts, ads or analytics."

The Chrome tab edition

The brief also carries a Chrome Web Store edition description: "Reel Room is a small cinema game from aeternusvita.io that runs offline in its own Chrome tab."

In that edition you are the projectionist in a private 3D theatre. The description says: "Start the reel, watch the screen and hit each cue within its window. Hits in a row score more. At the end the audience gives its verdict: a standing ovation, polite applause or walkouts." Controls are drag to look, click or press Space to act. The store summary for this edition is: "Run the projector in a private 3D cinema: hit each cue on the reel in time and earn a standing ovation."

Both descriptions share the same setting — a private theatre made by aeternusvita.io. The Play copy focuses on bringing your own video to a large screen, while the Chrome tab copy focuses on running the reel and hitting cues. The platforms on file are Web, Chrome extension and steam-frame, which matches those two forms.

Where you can use it

Reel Room is built as a web-based VR title. The brief lists the target as steam-frame, the template as webxr and the web build kind as kit-three. The build is hosted and has passed a desktop smoke test, with the status shown as "hosted, smoke PASS".

The platforms on file are Web, Chrome extension and steam-frame. For stores the brief notes Chrome Web Store at #08, itch.io as needs account with a package-ready HTML5 zip, and Google Play, Meta Horizon and SideQuest as n/a — a web-only build with a progressive web app via create-pwa noted as possible for Meta, and no APK for SideQuest.

Artefacts are a web build of about 29.6 KB, a Chrome Web Store zip of about 243 KB and an HTML5 zip of about 12.5 KB. Reel Room is listed as Coming soon and is not yet submitted. There is no release date, price, rating or review to quote. The ready score is 82, reflecting the hosted build, the smoke pass and the prepared listings. The privacy policy URL was proposed on 23 October 2026 and is not yet live, and store IDs are not yet assigned.

Who it suits

Reel Room suits people who want a private screen that feels like a theatre, without sharing the picture with others in the house.

It suits you if you want your own video on a large screen. The Play copy says "Play a video you bring yourself" and "The picture is the one you brought." If you have personal footage or a favourite file you return to, the room gives it a large screen and a seated place to watch it.

It suits you if you want the room to stay settled. The screen stays large for the length of that video and the room stays the theatre you picked. You take a seat, choose a mode and the room holds it.

It suits you if you like a small, focused control set. The VR cinema lists a small set of interface sounds for the controls, and the Chrome tab edition adds drag to look, click or press Space to act.
