Screening Room: How a Single Media Room Works in VR
What Screening Room is, how a seated screening works in VR and who it suits.
By AeternusVita
“What Screening Room is, how a seated screening works in VR and who it suits.”
Screening Room is a media room for a VR headset. You take a seat in one room, face the screening, use one action while it runs, and a score records the session so you can return to the same room later with the score still on the device.
This post explains what Screening Room is, how a session works and who it suits. It is coming soon on aeternusvita.io. You can get notified from the product page when it is ready.
What Screening Room is
Screening Room is a media room for a VR headset. The one-line pitch from the Play listing says it directly: "Sit in one room and run a screening, in a VR headset." The subtitle is "A screening room in VR".
The long description sets the scope: "Screening Room is a media room for a VR headset. You take a seat in one room and face the screening. You use one action while the screening runs. The room is for watching, and you stay seated for the session. You see the room from inside the headset."
It continues: "A score records the session. When you leave, the score is saved on the device, so you can return to the same room later." It adds: "Screening Room runs on the headset itself. It also runs on a VR headset linked to a computer. On both, the session is that one room and the screening you run there." And: "Screening Room is made by aeternusvita.io. Sit down for the screening and keep a score from the session."
The feature list is:
- A media room in a VR headset
- Sit in one room for a screening
- Use one action during the screening
- A score records the session
- The score is saved for your next visit
That is the whole scope as described in the brief: one room, one screening, one action, and a score kept on the device.
How a screening works
You put on the headset and you take a seat in the room. You face the screening. The room is for watching, and you stay seated for the session. You see the room from inside the headset.
While the screening runs, you use one action. The listing keeps that wording plain and does not name extra tools or steps. The session is that one room and the screening you run there.
A score records the session. The Play copy says: "A score records the session. When you leave, the score is saved on the device, so you can return to the same room later." The feature list repeats it as "The score is saved for your next visit."
When you leave, the score stays on the device. The next time you open the app, you return to the same room and the score is still there.
The screening room itself
The screening room is one place for the whole session. The description says: "You take a seat in one room and face the screening." and "The room is for watching, and you stay seated for the session."
There is one room to be in. You sit, you watch, and you stay there until you leave. The brief does not describe extra areas. The session is that one room and the screening you run there.
That single room is also what you come back to. The Play copy says: "When you leave, the score is saved on the device, so you can return to the same room later." You return to the same room rather than a new space each time. The twelve localised listings carry the same meaning — one room for the session, with the screening in front of you.
You see the room from inside the headset and you stay seated for the session.
One action and a saved score
The session has two parts: one action and a saved score.
The action is singular. The Play copy says: "Use one action during the screening" and the long description says: "You use one action while the screening runs." The listings do not name that action beyond "one action" and they do not describe extra modes. The session is that single action in that single room while the screening runs.
The score records that session. The Play copy says: "A score records the session" and "The score is saved for your next visit." The long description says: "When you leave, the score is saved on the device, so you can return to the same room later."
Saved on the device means the score stays with that headset or that linked setup. If you leave and come back later, the room and the score are still there. There is no mention of online accounts or cloud saves in the brief.
Together they give the session a simple shape: you sit in one room, run the screening with one action, and a score records it for next time.
Where you can use it
Screening Room runs on a VR headset. The Play copy says: "Screening Room runs on the headset itself. It also runs on a VR headset linked to a computer. On both, the session is that one room and the screening you run there."
That covers the two headset setups. You can use it standalone on the headset itself, and with a VR headset linked to a computer. In both cases the session is the same — that one room and the screening you run there, seen from inside the headset.
The project builds show how that is packaged. There is a signed Quest APK and a signed Android XR AAB, both verified, plus a hosted web build built with Godot WebAssembly and an HTML5 zip for itch.io.
Listings are prepared for Google Play, Meta Horizon, SideQuest and itch.io, with packages ready but not yet submitted. Each shows "needs account — package ready". The status is "hosted, smoke PASS". Screening Room is made by aeternusvita.io and is listed as Coming soon. There is no price, release date, rating or review to quote, because nothing has been released.
Who it suits
Screening Room suits people who want a short, settled session in VR that stays in one place and keeps its focus on watching.
It suits you if you want one steady setting. You take a seat in one room and face the screening, and the room is for watching. If you prefer a single room to a sequence of areas, this fits. You stay seated and you see the room from inside the headset.
It suits you if you like one clear action. The listing says you use one action during the screening. There are no extra steps to learn. You run the screening with that one action and that is the interaction for the session.
It suits you if you like a score you can keep. A score records the session and is saved on the device, so you can return to the same room later and the score is still there.
It is straightforward if you are new to a headset. One room, one screening, one action, and a score kept on the device for next time.
